Rituals are an important part of any Intuitive’s life, but can be challenging to keep up with when you don't have a lot of privacy, time, or energy. Here are some quick and easy rituals for the Full Moon to help you stay connected to your spirituality even if you're struggling to stay balanced.

What is a ritual?

Simply put, a ritual is a ceremony, a pattern of, or a series of actions done in a particular order to achieve a specific goal. Rituals don’t have to be complicated! The intention behind the ritual is what truly matters.

Why do rituals matter?

Rituals are a way for us to connect with our inner-selves, the people who came before us, and to the world around us. They can take the form of celebrations, or can be just a reminder that we're not alone in this life. There are many ways to create your own rituals; something small and simple like lighting a candle, a guided meditation session, cleansing your space, or taking some time for self-care can have a great impact on our ability to stay grounded when done regularly and with intention. Something more involved like making an altar or adhering to a journaling or regimented workout schedule is wonderful and extremely helpful but not always realistic or practical for everyone. And that is okay! There is an inherent power in ritualizing those small daily things that fill our cup because it helps us to reconnect with ourselves and to those around us.

What’s so special about the Full Moon?

The Full Moon is a perfect time to reflect, to celebrate your achievements, and to move past what is no longer serving you. It is also a great time to set new goals for yourself. The moon has long been a symbol of the ebb and flow of life. Being drawn to the cycles of the moon, and feeling compelled to ritualize this special time when there is an amplified opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and self-care, is a beautiful part of the human experience. People often find themselves feeling more fatigued and sensitive in the days leading up to the full moon so it is especially important to honor those deeper emotions. With just a few minutes on your hands, you can create a quick ritual that will have you feeling centered again.

A few ideas to try:

Meditate- Start by sitting in silence for 5 minutes with your eyes closed. If you have a source of guided meditations you love, try a new track. I personally love guiding myself with soft music but have found it can sometimes take me a little longer to get deep into a meditative state with only music. When I have a just few minutes to dedicate to some quiet time, I find guided meditations to be a great tool.

Connect with Nature – Do you need a full moon ritual for letting go? Go outside! Close your eyes and focus on each of your other senses, one at a time. What do you hear? How does it smell? Take it one sense at a time. If you are able, take a walk and use this time to reflect on what you need clarity on. Nature has a way of answering our questions if we listen.

Try a Breathing Exercise – Amplified emotions during this time can bring to the surface some tough issues for all of us. We tend to dodge uncomfortable feelings but this is an ideal opportunity to breathe heartily into those feelings to help work through them.

Clean Up Your Space – clearing out stagnant energy is imperative for a healthy living space. With intention, tidying up any clutter or knocking out a few chores you’ve been meaning to get to can be hugely beneficial to your emotional well-being. The full moon is a great time to clear out clutter or to organize a drawer or close you have been neglecting.

Make a Simple, Natural, Wholesome Meal for Yourself – Minding your energy and emotional well-being is imperative, but so is feeding yourself. Carve out some time to make a balanced and nutritious meal for yourself. This is also a perfect opportunity to bring your partner into your ritual and create some bonding time if you are looking for a way to celebrate the full moon as a couple.

Take a Bath – There is nothing more cleansing than a wonderfully relaxing bath. This is the perfect occasion to pull out any salts or soaks you have that make you feel amazing. Use this time to really focus on your senses, and concentrate on washing away negative energy. When you are done and drain the water, imagine all that is no longer serving you going down the drain.

Evaluate Your Path – The full moon is a perfect time to acknowledge your successes and assess what feel like shortcomings. What goals do you feel like you’re falling short of? Now is a great time for manifestation. Spend a few minutes witting with what it would feel like to crush a goal.
